Ohio's Canal Era, Part 2: The Ohio & Erie (VHS) Description
|
Ohio's Canal Era: Part 2 The Ohio & Erie (VHS Video Recording) By Jack Gieck
Ohio's Canal Era brings to life an almost forgotten period in Ohio's early history, visiting restored sections of this vital 19th century inland transportation system, comparing these scenes with vintage photographs as old as photography itself. We learn how locks work, ride authentic replicas of mule-drawn boats, and hear from canal historians.
Part Two explores the route of the Ohio & Erie Canal from Cleveland, on Lake Erie, to Portsmouth on the Ohio River, with colorful scenes of preserved sections in the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area, Canal Fulton, and Roscoe Village; in Coshocton we ride the Monticello III replica. "Then and now" scenes permit us to relive Ohio's canal era.
