How to Research Objects and How to Care for Them
Saturday, May 5, 2012: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Ohio History Center Archives/Library
Your great-great grandmother taught grades 1-8 in a one room schoolhouse. Have you wanted to see the McGuffey's Reader she might have used? Your great-grandfather worked at Roseville Pottery in Zanesville, Ohio. Would you like to see a dish that he might have created? This class will show how objects in the Ohio Historical Society's collections might help you understand the lives lived by people documented in paper record research. Do you have family heirlooms that you might want to know the history of? Have you wondered how to care for the china or the antique chair that have been kept in your family for generations? How to handle them and proper lighting and temperatures will be discussed. Bring an object and our history curators will assist you. This class will introduce you to searching for objects of interest in the Ohio Historical Society's Online Collection Catalog.
Cost: $15.00 OHS/FCGHS members, $20.00 non members
