Family History Research: War Of 1812
Saturday, May 19, 2012: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Ohio History Center Archives/Library

Are you interested in how to research the experience of a soldier during the War of 1812? Are you having difficulty identifying records of military service during this conflict? This presentation will focus on Ohio Adjutant General, private manuscript, and published sources that provide election and service information from election and payroll records of the Ohio Militia from 1803 through 1815. You will learn tips on how locate names of soldiers who answered Governor Return J. Meigs and President James Madison’s calls for troops. Suggestions will be given for sources showing who received pensions for service or where veterans were buried.

Cost: $15.00 OHS/FCGHS members, $20.00 non members
